1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how Calorie Budget ("Calorie Budget", "we", "us") handles information when you use the mobile application, this website, support channels and related services.
2. Information we handle
Account information
We process the email address, username or display name, authentication provider, email-verification status and the technical account identifier needed to provide your account. Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication and are not visible to us in plain text.
Profile and calorie-plan information
When you calculate or save a plan, we may process biological sex, age, height, current weight, target weight, activity level, goal period, selected daily calorie budget and recorded weight measurements. We also store calculated plan values such as maintenance calories, estimated basal metabolic rate, goal direction and plan dates.
Journal and meal information
We process the food names, quantities, units, calorie estimates, meal types, dates, times and optional notes you save. Journal data also includes whether a day is recorded as tracked, fasting or untracked, where applicable.
Preferences and saved content
Meal preferences, preferred ingredients, excluded foods, allergies, intolerances, preparation-time preferences, AI language and saved favorite recipes may be stored on your device or with your account, depending on the feature.
AI inputs and outputs
If you use AI-assisted features, we process the meal descriptions, clarification responses, selected language, meal preferences and relevant calorie-plan or journal context required to produce the requested result. Outputs may include food entries, calorie estimates, meal recommendations and nutrition or plan insights.
Voice recordings are uploaded temporarily for transcription and are deleted from our temporary storage after the transcription attempt completes. The resulting text may then be processed like a typed meal description.
Membership and usage information
We store Free or PRO entitlement status, validity dates, feature-use counters, quota periods and limited technical usage information needed to enforce feature availability, prevent abuse and troubleshoot failures. The current application does not collect or store payment-card details.
Support and deletion requests
If you contact us, we receive the information contained in your email and the email address used to send it. For account-deletion requests, we use this information to verify account ownership and complete the request.
3. Why we use information
- To create and secure your account.
- To calculate, save and update calorie plans.
- To maintain your Journal, meals, preferences and plan history.
- To provide AI-assisted meal interpretation, transcription, recommendations and insights when you request them.
- To show membership status and enforce user-specific feature limits.
- To maintain service integrity, investigate errors and prevent abuse.
- To answer support, privacy and account-deletion requests.
- To comply with applicable legal obligations.
4. Service providers
Calorie Budget relies on a limited number of infrastructure and AI providers:
- Google Firebase for authentication, database hosting, file storage, server-side functions and application hosting.
- Google Sign-In when you choose to authenticate with Google.
- OpenRouter and the selected AI model providers to process AI requests, including meal descriptions, temporary audio transcription and relevant aggregated plan or journal context.
- Cloudflare for domain, DNS and support-email routing services.
Providers receive only the information needed for the requested service and handle it under their own terms and privacy commitments. We do not sell personal information and do not use journal or health-related information for targeted advertising.
5. AI limitations
AI results are estimates and may be incomplete or incorrect. Food names, portions, calorie estimates, recommendations and interpretations should be reviewed before use. AI-generated content is for general informational purposes and is not medical advice.
6. Retention
Account and product data is generally retained while your account remains active so the application can provide plans, journal history, saved recipes and insights. Temporary audio files are removed after transcription processing. Some minimal security or operational records may be retained for a limited period where reasonably necessary to prevent abuse, resolve incidents or meet legal obligations.
When an account is deleted, associated account data is removed unless specific information must be retained for a legitimate legal, security or fraud-prevention reason. Any such retention will be limited to what is necessary.
7. Security
We use authenticated access, user-scoped database rules, server-side authorization checks, protected secrets and encrypted network connections. No online service can guarantee absolute security, but we design access so one user cannot read or modify another user's private application data.
8. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the use of personal information and to object to certain processing.
- You can update supported profile information from Settings.
- You can edit or delete individual journal entries.
- You can delete your account from the application.
- You can request deletion outside the application through our account-deletion page.
9. Children's privacy
Calorie Budget is not designed for children and is not intended for use by anyone under the minimum age required to consent to digital services in their country. We do not knowingly solicit personal information from children.
10. International processing
Service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where applicable, we rely on the safeguards provided by those service providers and applicable data-protection law.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the product, providers or legal requirements change. The effective date at the top of this page will be updated, and material changes may also be communicated in the application.
